We enter the lists in three days..

Huffington Post had this to say about Krista Branch:

Krista Branch believes that she is America.

The Oklahoma mother of three and seventh season American Idol reject released a new single last month (for sale on iTunes), titled "I Am America." Branch's song is not related to the Stephen Colbert book by the same name, I Am America (And So Can You).

The single is a politically-charged ode to tea party values that strikes out at the movement's critics. Branch accuses them of looking down on a humble group of patriots

Kinda sounds like they don't like her. That's plenty good enough reason for me to put her song up here. In truth, we all are America and we will let them know it in D.C. and California and all over this land come NOvember 2nd.

I have been volunteering -- phone-banking my a** off -- these past few days. I did a hat trick on Thursday: saw Carly in Laguna Woods, phone banked for her, phone banked for Van Tran (LCR's cause de celebre and worthy opponent of the Latina Sex Poodle in CA-47), and finished up at Starr Parker's HQ in CA-37.

I am going to do more after my USAF Auxiliary radio class today..and probably do this until the evening of election day.

Like Jim Valvano said, "Don't give up..don't ever give up!"

So what're you doing here reading this post? Get out there and work for your candidate(s).

Pajamas Media: "Something Stinks in California's 47th Congressional District

by the Left Coast Rebel

Last night I wrapped up an article for Pajamas Media on California's CD-47. I focused on a funny bit of news related to the Van Tran campaign, here's the opener:

Away from the face-off between the two candidates, something smells as bad as trash-truck juice on a Death Valley summer day in California’s 47th.

In search of the olfactory offense, I point the reader to a Van Tran mailer masquerading as a fragrance sampler, making its way to the mail boxes of likely voters in Garden Grove, Santa Ana, and Anaheim.

Don’t judge this book by its cover; it’s no ordinary fragrance sampler:

Note that the mailer says: “Open for a Free Sample Fragrance of: Loretta, The Scent of Washington.

You have to read the rest to see what happens when the mailer is opened! Later on in the piece I describe Van Tran campaign HQ, it's a pretty neat story:

The folks in the Van Tran campaign were a pleasant bunch. After meeting them I could sense that they are having fun (easily evidenced by the humorous mailer too), working hard, and ready to win. At the same time, I gathered that they were perfectly able and willing to go back to normal life if the election doesn’t go their way on Tuesday.

Central command for Van Tran is set up in a foreclosed Blockbuster building in Garden Grove, a city of 175,000 in northern Orange County. The building was essentially stripped of most things that one would associate with the past life of movie rentals such as shelving and other interior structures. Although the sign had been removed, the outline of the letters B-L-O-C-K-B-U-S-T-E-R were still clearly discernible on the building’s stucco exterior.

It was somewhat dirty inside, a proverbial makeshift campaign war room with folding tables set up for walk-in volunteer phone bank folks. Van Tran signs were strewn graciously and haphazardly across the walls, and there was a constant buzz of activity. The accommodations were functional but not flashy.

Please read the rest, comment, Facebook 'like' it and pass it along to friends - especially those of you that live in California. And please, above all, support Van Tran and other conservative candidates in the closing days of the 2010 midterm election.

Nothing short of the future of the nation is at stake.

Soros is ba-a-a-a-a-ck..

..remember when you'd head over to your favorite blog in 2007 and 2008 and find it overrun with annoying, mindless, adolescent remarks, witty ripostes like, "I know you are, but what is BOOOOOOSH?" and "Bush = Hitler" and "Bush lied and thousands died!" and "Obama is so-o-o-o-o cool, I don't even care that he wears gold lamé bikini briefs with hashmarks!"

Well, you can expect a resurgence -- like the Plagues of Egypt, toads, lice, and flies, and boils -- now that Soros in more engaged in getting NPR correspondents fired and other chicanery.

How about this nauseating rip off of the Terminator/Running Man broadcast from the future shtick:

Moderately amusing concept but I gotta tell ya, it's typical liberal pap: paranoid and heavy handed and it probably goes on for about two minutes longer that it should.

O.K., I get it! Your world has been ruined by the evil Republicans and the evil corporations that they took over -- not like the ones Obama cashiered in 2009 at all.

What would be really delcious would be for some enterprising, skilled conservative vid tech to commander this and turn it into one of those Hitler-throwing-a-tantrum-in-his-bunker You Tube pieces.

While on the subject of plagues, I guess the only one this brings to mind is the plague of boils -- on the bum.

by the Left Coast Rebel

A new meme is developing that stormy skies in the Midwest, Southeast and Northeast may keep Democrats away from pols across the nation on November 2. The subtle reasoning for this is simple - folks that vote Democrat are so incredibly helpless that they cannot even brave bad weather to perform their civic duty.

Nothing shows the fall from our founding and rugged individualism quite like this. First, let's begin with this from The Hill:
According to Laurel Harbridge, a Northwestern University political science professor, GOP voters are not typically discouraged by rain. “Republicans are helped by bad weather ... it does harm Democratic prospects.”
What? Republicans are helped by bad weather? I thought that Republicans created bad weather on election day. Soros told me so!

More from The Hill:

Wendy Schiller, a political science professor at Brown University, echoed Harbridge. “Bad weather almost always hurts Democrats,” she said. “The traditional Democratic base tends to include lower-income people and the elderly. Both of those demographic groups have a hard time getting to the polls.”
Now we are getting closer to the gist of theme here. Many Democrat voters are poor and lazy. In fact, they are so lazy that they may not attempt to manage a bit of wet weather to protect taxpayer-funded goodies.

Forget the old people too, they clearly are defenseless as cumulonimbus clouds approach.

However, on a more serious not, riddle me this - are dead democratic voters less likely to show because of bad weather?

I would crawl over miles of broken glass mixed with rusty nails, under spiral barbed-wire and dodge the occasional land mine to vote for the future of this nation on November 2, wouldn't you?

Apparently the Democratic base's ballot box 'robbing form Peter to pay for Paul' credo doesn't elicit an equivalent degree of emotional response as fighting for the very survival of one's nation.

Running out of gas..

Drudge headline this morning:

CLINTON PLAYS TO HIGH SCHOOL GYM:
TWO-THIRDS EMPTY

Here is an excerpt from the underlying article. I added emphasis:

While the crowd hoisted signs that stated “Virg Surge,” the turnout at the rally was anemic. More than 500 people came to the rally, but the gym at Renaissance High School was only about one-third full, even though Clinton used to command full houses wherever he went, especially in Detroit.

Politician after politician exhorted the crowd to not let the polls keep them from voting on Nov. 2.

“They think that if they tell you often enough that you’re not doing well that you won’t go to the polls,” U.S. Rep. John Conyers said. “But we’re not buying that malarkey. If Detroit turns out as it has in the past, we win.”

..while it is delicious to consider the prospect of the Democrats only marketable commodity losing traction, probably a lot of this can be laid at the feet of younger people not knowing about Clinton's aura. (Or, perhaps more of them coming to learn his reputation.)

Other little tidbits associated with this news item over at Drudge are evocative of the crap sandwich that the Dems have served up to America over the last 22 months:

RI Dem: Obama can 'take his endorsement and shove it'...
'He ignored us and now he's coming into Rhode Island treating us like ATM machine'...
Debt Has Increased $5 Trillion Since Speaker Pelosi Vowed, 'No New Deficit Spending'...

Tolerance and understanding from Obama's union thugs..

Flagrantly purloined from The Conservative Lady, it seems that Obama's union thugs took exception to one of the stage hands wearing a "Bush" sweatshirt and hat. But there's more to the story than just this. Head over to the CL site for the 4-1-1.

..boy the anecdotal evidence of Obama and this liberal thugs' intolerance -- what with the firing of Juan Williams -- just mounts up so fast you need wings to stay on top of it.

By the way, any of you out there see the BOREilly show on Friday night? O'Reilly, whom I have no special love for, did one of the smartest things going by turning the guest-hosting duties over to Juan. Mr Williams devoted a majority of the show to his firing and proceeded to rip NPR and intolerant libs a new one.

Ya gotta believe that O'Reilly's ratings are through the roof for that show and because of the firing. It is also a streak of genius that FNC re-upped Williams.

Fox News Chief Executive Roger Ailes handed Williams a new three-year contract Thursday morning, in a deal that amounts to nearly $2 million, a considerable bump up from his previous salary, the Tribune Washington Bureau has learned. The Fox News contributor will now appear exclusively and more frequently on the cable news network and have a regular column on FoxNews.com.

The stark contrast between FNC and the cold, hard-hearted NPR will sure garner a lot of new liberal viewers who though Juan got the shaft. What better way to boost your ratings than at the expense of your competition?

As with most of you, I disagree with Williams a whole bunch. But he is respected -- and loved to a great degree -- by a lot of us on the right because we believe we can have a conversation and a dialog with the guy and, while our views differ, we have a chance to exchange ideas with him.

As fot the contract extension and raise?

..it literally could not have happened to a nicer guy.

EMBARRASSING ACTIONS/OPINIONS UPDATE: Oh, and as long as we're on the subject of Liberals' and Democrats' hyprocisy, here's a stunner I culled from one of the commenters' links over at a Hot Air piece on how the recent Wikileaks turned up  evidence of WMDs:

Boy, those number nines sure taste awful, don't they?

Backward "K" for Brian on Ryan..

Or, you might just call this "The Life of Brian":

The Giants knocked off the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday, 3-2, to win the National League Championship Series 4-2.

Juan Uribe’s home run with the bases empty, off a two-out fastball from reliever Ryan Madson, broke a 2-2 tie in the eighth inning.

In relief of Tim Lincecum, who had started Games 1 and 5 and opened the eighth in relief, Giants closer Brian Wilson got the final five outs to bring San Francisco its first NL pennant since 2002.

Wilson’s final pitch was a dandy: a cut fastball over the outside corner, which caught Phillies slugger Ryan Howard looking with Phillies on first base and second. The strikeout was Howard’s 30th in his last 56 postseason at-bats and sealed Wilson’s third save of the series.”

Evocative -- in some minute degree -- of a storied a moment in the Giant's past and Russ Hodges' famous call:

..o.k., o.k., grew up in S.F. and have been a Giants fan since they moved there in '58. Doubt me? I used to go to Seals Stadium and watch Willie May, Willie Kirkland, Jackie Brandt, Hobie Landerith. I was in the stands for the game where Wiilie McCovey broke in, saw the game when Don Newcombe (a pitcher for the Cincinnati reds) beat the Giants 1-0 on a home run he hit. Was at the game where Johnny Antonelli got beat by a wind-blown fly ball and criticized Seals Stadium as a "band box" thereby relegating him from darling to despised in the eyes of the SF fans.

Was at the game where the three Alou brothers (Felipe, Matty, and Jesus) played in the same outfield; also the game where Tommy Davis of the hated Dodgers lost a fly ball in the fog..

..seen it all. Love the "Say Hey" kid, Orlando Cepeda, bled blood and shed tears when Willie Mc's line drive wasn't a foot higher, and hope against hope that the Giants win their first World Serious since coming out to SF.

Now, don't get me started on the 49ers and Oakland. Bled red and gold and black and silver in those days too.

Still think Nancy Pelosi sucks swampwater..

..she's probably not a baseball fan anyway.

This is dedicated to my oldest son, TWP III, who loves the Giants.

(..yeah, yeah, I don't know how you bleed black and silver, but if the old Raiders got ahold of you, guaranteed they could make it happen.)

You want politically incorrect?

Hey, NPR, tired of your commentators bagging on the possibility of Mooz-lems being terrorists? What the thoughts Juan Williams expressed were his liberal viewpoints. Consider this real-world view from a good high-school friend of mine and former police detective in Georgia:

Amazing Development!
MICRO CHIP IMPLANT ALLOWS TERRORISTS TO SPEAK TO GOD

THE PATRIOTIC MICRO CHIP is intended to be implanted in Terrorists. The implant is specifically designed to be injected in the forehead. When properly installed, it will allow the one implanted, to speak to God. It comes in various sizes. The exact size of the implant will be selected by a well-trained and highly skilled technician, who will also make the injection.

No Anesthetic is required.

Disclaimer
The implant may or may not be painless. Side effects, like headaches and nausea, aches and pains are extremely temporary. Some bleeding or swelling may occur at the injection site. In most cases, you won't even notice it.

Again I'll say it: Something's afoot..

This from Allahpundit over at Hot Air: Barney Frank had to lend his campaign $200 large:

As much as I like Bielat, not until this very moment did I think this seat might really be in play.

Frank isn’t a tremendously wealthy guy. What on earth are his internal polls showing him to make him cough up 200 grand?

Again, add to that the fact that Obama and Biden have been to Delaware more times than Obama's been golfing Bidem and Obama will all but have top pay income taxes in Ohio because of his frequent visits. What's the deal with Delaware? I thought Coons had the happless O'Donnell beat like a rented mule.

SIDEBAR RANT: Are you getting as sick and tired of hearing about Christine O'Donnell's gutsy fight in the Delaware on FNC or elsewhere? O.K., I get it. The Republican voters in her state ousted a RINO and put her up for the job. Fine. I like her and all that but her whining about how she's not getting any support from the National GOP is getting a little edgy. I wish her well and, for goodness sakes, hope to God she wins.

But one wonders how much good a little FNC air time on the California races of Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina would benefit from the exposure. I mean, the only time we hear about them is when Meg's opponent gaffs it up or Boxer stumbles in a debate.

Believe me, turning out Boxer and putting a Republican in over that idiotic, has-been, gas-bag former governor would be a much bigger win -- and more beneficial come 2012.

But, then again, just like college hoops, no one on the East Coast gives a chicken-fried rat crap what goes on west of the Mississippi. And, if it ain't happenin' in the Big Apple, it ain't happenin.

Maybe that New Yorker cover was accurate.

As things get tense, this guy gets crazier and crazier. These latest pictures are downright scary:

"The GOP is coming to get us, you know! We're all doomed!"
One wonders how this guy will act after the bottom has dropped out of his world on NOvember 3rd? I'm thinking certifiable Nutsy Fagan, rolling the steel ball-bearings in his hands, and the works.

Oh yeah:

Clueless old broad clanks up..

Carly Fiorina has closed the gap within one point of that dessicated old, puss-bag Senator Ma'am. Thanks to American Power, here is a clip of Boxer getting taken apart in a very friendly venue:

A Visibly Embarrassed Senator Boxer Has
Her Lies Repeatedly Called Out By CNN's Blitzer

She cannot even demonstrate a command of the facts in front of a bum-osculator. This woman is, without a doubt, losing it. Time to turn the old cow out to pasture.

Ma'am contemplates future
GRATUITOUS THOUGHT: Her constant referral to The Stimulus Package as "The Stim" just makes my skin crawl. I have to admit I am still suffering from the cold I had all weekend and am not in a very good mood. It's probably why I'd like to see Boxer water-bagged at a campaign stop some time.

Something's afoot..

O.K., just this one post today and then I really must get something done around the house.

It was noticed over at Fleming & Hayes via Michelle Malkin as well as other places that Sean Bielat -- Barney Frank's rival for "his" House seat -- was heckled during a brief interlude with reporters yesterday:

Upon exiting the most recent debate with Barney Frank, located at WGBH studios in Boston, MA, Republican Congressional candidate, Sean Bielat, gets heckled by a Barney Frank “supporter” while talking to the media. While watching this video, we realized that we recognized this “supporter”. We received confirmation from two eyewitnesses that the mysterious cameraman was none other than Barney Frank’s pot-growing boyfriend, James Ready.

Fleming & Hayes correctly observe (emphasis mine):

This brings an interesting element to the race when such a prominent "supporter" of Frank feels the need to try and pick a fight with the opposition. While Frank continues to promote his theory that, "According to our numbers we are up by more than 20 points no matter what we do.", this type of action smells of desperation and fear. Not to mention, he clearly has no campaign staff to speak of, obviously, because the only person he could muster up to heckle his opponent was the antithesis of anonymous. We've got to give Barney a break, though, this is the first time in 30 years he's had to campaign and he clearly doesn't know how to go about it.

There is news afoot -- over at THE BIG FEED, for example -- that Barhey Frank's numbers have slipped below 50% and Biellat's closed in within ten points. This yet might become a race a la Scott Brown and Martha "I don't shake hands in the cold outside Fenway" Coakley.

But there is an interesting subtext here. As LCR observed on scene in Santa Ana on Friday for the Sanchez rally, Clinton stumped for Lovely Loretta, the Latina sex-fiend, and only drew 1,000 to the rally. That is not a lot especially in a heavily Hispanic area and the heart of Sanchez's district 47 with the only person in the Dem party whose "reputation" (such as it is) still intact and the only one with any star power this year.

The very next day he went to UCLA and spoke to a crowd of 6,000 for Jerry "My opponent's charging $25 per trick" Brown. To put this in context: (1) UCLA had a bye this week (i.e., was not playing football in the Rose Bowl), (2) this was NOT before any finals or anything, and (3) SC was playing CAL in the Coliseum. I know this borders on senile non sequitur, but work with me. The point is that there was nothing going on in Westwood, SC (whose fans and students are more conservative than my alma mater) were occupied, and even an appearance by THE Dem Mega-Star for the Dem gubernatorial candidate only filled 1/3 of Pauley Pavilion. Even when UCLA was stinking up the barn with their roundball team last year, they drew 10,000.

Nationally, there's something afoot that belies what even the terrible polls are saying for the Democrats. The POSOTUS and his FLOTUS are making YET ANOTHER trip to campaign, this being either the 18th or 37th or 111th. They have thrown everything including the kitchen sink at Jahn Kasich and he still comfortably leads Strickland for the Governor's race there. Karl, over at Hot Ais a few days ago observed again, my emphasis):

Pres. Obama’s campaign schedule tells the tale. The president will spend the home stretch of the midterm campaign in states that he won two years ago. Even in what should be reliably Blue states, a number of his stops are fundraisers instead of rallies.

Similarly, first lady Michelle Obama makes her 2010 campaign debut today, headlining three Democratic fund-raisers. She kicks off with an appearance for Mr. 42%, Sen. Russ Feingold (who decided not to appear with the president for a recent rally in Madison) in Milwaukee, before heading south in support of endangered House and Senate candidates in her home state of Illinois. The rest of her tour includes places she should not have to be, like California and Washington state. The NYT reports the first lady will pursue “a limited campaign schedule that is focused on giving a boost to selected Democrats,” which is a far cry from two months ago, when Dems hoped she would be their “secret weapon.”

I hearken back to my observations while phone-banking for Carly Fiorina. We were two-three down it the polls (slightly outside MOE) and they gave me these sheets of phone numbers of people who had not voted in years. I complained to the precinct boss that we should be courting the more reliable voters and weren't we wasting time on these folks? I meant that we should be getting in touch with the more enthusiastic segment of our base.

"What makes you so sure we haven't done that already? Just shut up and make the calls and everything will be all right," he told me with a knowing wink.

So I ain't giving up -- not by a long shot -- and I'll still be making the calls to 83-year-old "non-voting" women as directed. But I'll also be following these contradictory campaigning patterns that have Dems defending supposedly safe districts and states with great interest.

The 83-year-old women? They'd surprise you! One of them that I talked to last week said about voting for Carly and Meg, "Oh, most definitely young man! I want to throw Boxer's ass out!"

UPDATE/CORRECTION: The UCLA rally was held in Dickinson Court which is a pretty large expanse of ground in the Eastern edge of the campus. The attendance was revised down to 4,000 by the Daily Bruin report on the rally:

After 40 minutes of speeches by Bill Clinton, Jerry Brown and Gavin Newsom, about 4,000 attendees of the California Democratic Party’s Vote 2010 rally at UCLA filed out of Dickson Court.
Again, the three headliners should have pulled in many, many more students and lefties from Los Angeles but then again, times have changed and I guess these guys got better things to do on a Friday night than listen to the failed mayors of California's two biggest cities and the former Cohibatator.

The thought occurred to me..

This past week, while picking over the continuing bulletins of the impending Dem debacle in NOvember, like so many, I was following the dramatic end to the 65-day saga of the trapped Chilean miners. As this saga wound down to the marvelously successful conclusion, I couldn't help but notice the presence of Chile's President, Sebastian Pinera, at the rescue sight, his   involvement in the rescue of 33 of his countrymen, and the heartwarming pictures of him embracing the miners one by one as they emerged from what could have been their tomb.

The obvious thought came to mind that this is how a president of a country should react when his citizens are in peril. "Our own" Tim Daniel has richly written on this over at Pajamas Media:

The amazing outcome of the mine crisis was not always assured. On August 5, as the news of the trapped miners reached his desk, Chilean President Sebastián Piñera faced two choices. First, to orchestrate a rescue plan in earnest but in private, out of the public and international eye. Second, to take the tragedy head-on and enlist the best and brightest, and to do so for the world to see. To take a chance in leadership, or to take the road often traveled and not.

..but not wishing to tip Tim's hand, I recommend ambling over there for a truly interesting essay on how a chief executive should act.

A magnificent opportunity squandered..

It was to have been a perfect afternoon made even more perfect..

..I work in Orange, California hard by  Children's Hospital of Orange County (a.k.a., CHOC) and close upon the Santa Ana Civic Center where one year and six months earlier to the day  I attended my very first Tea Party rebellion on 15 April 2010.

Well, today it seems that Slick Willie was coming to town to bail out the Playboy-Sex-Poodle, Loretta Sanchez. You know, the chubby little Latina who ousted an inattentive Bob Dornan from his CA-47 house seat some years ago and has been doing absolutely nothing since then except insinuating herself into the domicile of the King of Viagra, Hugh Hefner, throwing off her old hubby, and stalking the halls of Congress in 4-inch stiletto heels looking for lobbyists to bed.

(Actually, I don't know about the 4-inch stiletto heels part of the narrative; it seems so much more civilized -- and sexy -- than calling an adversary a whore, one supposes.)

Your tax dollars at work
Anyway, Slick was coming to town to co-appear at a rally in Santa Ana with Sanchez in the heart of the Hispanic part of her district to drum up support for her.

As yet another aside, I am guessing this speaks volumes about how desperate the Dems must feel that they would squander one of their major chess pieces in this critical mid-term on a lowly member of the house when other more important factotums are destined to fall under the hammer in NOvember. It is part of the delicious calculus that makes politics so exciting.

It seems that her adversary, Van Tran, the guy intent on taking his Tong clan over to the Santa Ana Barrio and wresting Loretta's seat from her as the result of some imagined race war, was going to sponsor a "bracketing" event and sent out a request for supporters to stand a quiet vigil and -- well, you know -- basically rain on Loretta's soiree with The Chief Cohibatator.

And I had it all lined up: I was going in to work at zero-dark-thirty, skulk out at 1500, dash over to Santa Ana, grab a Van Tran sign, and stand there leering at Loretta as she minced by in her 4-inch stiletto heels on the arm of W. J. Clinton.

So, as I was munching my tuna fish sammich and bolting a cola at lunch, an e-mail popped up from Tim, The Left Coast Rebel and facilitator of a recent Cardiff-by-the-Sea single malt extravaganza, saying he was coming up all the way from San Diego County to show solidarity for Van Tran as well.

Wowie-Zowie, boys and girls! This was gonna be some afternoon!

How many of you out there seen the movie Office Space? You know the part where the guy waits impatiently for his machine to shut down so he can escape before the boss nails him and asks him to come in to work on Saturday?

Yep, that was yours truly: just turned the box off and..

"..uh, yeah, well, I'm gonna need you to go ahead and start to do something for me before you head home. It shouldn't take you more 'n a few minutes.."

So, promptly one-and-one-half hours later, I finally went wheels up and jumped onto the cell to leave Tim a message hoping against hope.

No luck.

Long story short: a couple of traded e-mails and a phone message from Tim and we were like the two ships passing in the night. Presumably, Tim is on the 405 Southbound as I write this.

Bat shit!

So, Tim, if you're out there, put up a post and let us know how it went. As for Sanchez..

"..get back Loretta! Wearing your high-heeled shoes and your low-neck sweater."

Because some images are just too good..

..to be buried by the sands of time.

Sadly, some will cherish this as an actual depiction of their beloved Child-Emperor.

-30-

Tribes

Let me get this straight. Our beloved, metro-sexual, post-racial savior goes on MTV, BET, and CMT for a series of those "cherry-picked" townhalls where all of the beautiful people are selected for -- um, you know -- the content of their character as the result of a casting call:
Seeking—Audience Members: males & females, 18+.

To apply, email townhallaudience@mtvnmix.com and put “Town Hall” in the subject line. To ensure that the audience represents diverse interests and political views, include your name, phone number, hometown, school attending, your job and what issues, if any, you are interested in or passionate about. Also, provide a recent photo and short description of your political views. Submission deadline: Oct. 14. No pay.

My guess is that Sunny Jim got a little nervous in the service about having a friendly face pick up the mike and express his or her exhaustion about The Child-Emperor forcing the populace on a diet of weenies and beans. So what does Mr. Unity do when addressing one of these stacked-deck audiences? Why, he proceeds to slice-and-dice and, of course, lay the blame off on on someone else, i.e., the "old people" not lucky enough to make the casting call (emphasis, of course, added):

Asked about what the questioner saw as an increase in racial tension Thursday, President Obama said a "tribal attitude" can come as a result of economic hardship.

"Historically, when you look at how America has evolved, typically we make progress on race relations in fits and starts," he said at a town hall event with young Americans.

He then suggested that the recession has played a part in driving racial antagonism while he has been in office.

"Often times misunderstandings and antagonisms surface most strongly when times are tough. And that's not surprising," Mr. Obama said, arguing that Americans are less worried when things are going well.

He added that anxiety over not being able to pay bills - or having lost a job or a home - sometimes "organizes itself around kind of a tribal attitude, and issues of race become more prominent."

He also said, however, that "I think the trend lines are actually good."

"This audience just didn't exist 20 years ago," Mr. Obama said, surveying the multiracial room of young people to whom he was speaking. He said the interaction between races among young people today is "unprecedented."

"We've got a little bit of everybody in this country," the president said, arguing that "our strength comes from unity, not division."

The president, referencing his own experience, added that "as you get older, your mind gets a little more set." He said that's why the tolerance of young people is so important. "You guys are going to be the messengers," said the president.

Yeah, right, Mr Post-Racial, Mr Divide-and-Conquer. BET? Isn't that the Black Entertainment Television cable channel?

Grapes of Wrath..

"Mind if we play through?"

Carol, my heart throb and possibly the most brilliant artist in the Free World over at No Sheeples Here, is doing a series of depression-era Photo Shops putting our beloved Child-Emperor and the FLOTUS in the period like the pic above..

..you know, just to get us used to how things will really be if this guy and his clown troupe doesn't get slammed in three weeks and again in 750 days.

So, she's doing her part. Waddaya doin' to hasten their exit? Been phone banking? Walking precincts? Made any contributions lately?

ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING HELP!

2010..2012..and beyond..

Homage..

I heard a thought the other day about the piece of hardware I used to program. They said of the B-52 that its eight engines had the power of 10 railroad locomotives, it was constructed of enough aluminum to make 5,000 trash cans, and its avionics were interconnected with 10,000 feet of wire..

..and it flew exactly like that: 5,000 trash cans lashed together with 10,000 feet of cable and pulled by 10 locomotives.

Stimulus-funded bridge in Bothell a boon or boondoggle?

President Obama's stimulus plan has delivered a new bridge just outside Seattle — not to South Park, but over North Creek in Bothell.

By Mike Lindblom
Seattle Times transportation reporter
President Obama's stimulus plan has delivered a new bridge just outside Seattle — not to South Park, but over North Creek.

Employees on their lunch break are watching salmon spawn this week below the wooden, arch-truss span, built for $260,000. It's the newest piece of a three-mile Bothell city trail, which reaches a huge employment cluster and college campus.

But some passers-by are baffled, including Tom Tangen, who worked nearby earlier this year. A sidewalk already exists 20 paces away to cross the stream, along Northeast 195th Street near I-405.

"It's kind of embarrassing to have a bridge like this, that's not needed," he says.

..no shit!

Super Chicken..

Sometimes it DOES take a Rocket Scientist!!

Scientists at NASA built a gun specifically to launch standard 4 pound dead chickens at the windshields of airliners, military jets and the space shuttle, all traveling at maximum velocity. The idea is to simulate the frequent incidents of collisions with airborne fowl to test the strength of the windshields.

British engineers heard about the gun and were eager to test it on the windshields of their new high speed trains. Arrangements were made, and a gun was sent to the British engineers. When the gun was fired, the engineers stood shocked as the chicken hurled out of the barrel, crashed into the shatterproof shield, smashed it to smithereens, blasted through the control console, snapped the engineer's back-rest in two, and embedded itself in the back wall of the cabin, like an arrow shot from a bow.

The horrified Brits sent NASA the disastrous results of the experiment, along with the designs of the windshield and begged the US scientists for suggestions.

NASA responded with a one-line memo:

"Defrost the chicken."

I Heart Obama..

..no need to clean the glasses, put down the Guinness, nor stop taking the Vicodin. You read correctly: I heart Obama!

It took an e-mail from an 82-year-old woman to make me realize:

One 82-year-old lady loves Obama and she may have a very good point. She says that Obama is amazing, and is rebuilding the American dream! She gives us an entirely new slant on the "amazing" job Obama is doing, and she says that she will thank God for the President. Keep reading for her additional comments and an explanation. When discussing Obama, she says:

1. Obama destroyed the Clinton Political Machine, driving a stake through the heart of Hillary's presidential aspirations - something no Republican was ever able to do.

2. Obama killed off the Kennedy Dynasty - no more Kennedys trolling Washington looking for booze and women wanting rides home.

3. Obama is destroying the Democratic Party before our eyes! Dennis Moore had never lost a race. Evan Bayh had never lost a race. Byron Dorgan had never lost a race. Harry Reid - soon to be GONE!These are just a handful of the Democrats whose political careers Obama has destroyed. By the end of 2010, dozens more will be gone. Just think, in December of 2008 the Democrats were on the rise. In the last two election cycles, they had picked up 14 Senate seats and 52 House seats. The press was touting the death of the Conservative Movement and the Republican Party. However, in just one year, Obama put a stop to all of this and will probably give the House - if not the Senate - back to the Republicans.

4.Obama has completely exposed liberals and progressives for what they are. Sadly, every generation seems to need to re-learn the lesson on why they should never actually put liberals in charge. Obama is bringing home the lesson very well:

  * Liberals tax, borrow and spend.
  * Liberals won't bring themselves to protect America.
  * Liberals want to take over the economy.
  * Liberals think they know what is best for everyone.
  * Liberals are not happy until they are running YOUR life.

5.Obama has brought more Americans back to conservatism than anyone since Reagan. In one year, he has rejuvenated the Conservative Movement and brought out to the streets millions of freedom loving Americans. Name one other time when you saw your friends and neighbors this interested in taking back America!

6.Obama, with his "amazing leadership," has sparked the greatest period of sales of firearms and ammunition this country has seen. Law abiding citizens have rallied and have provided a "stimulus" to the sporting goods field while other industries have failed, faded, or moved off-shore.

7.In all honesty, one year ago I was more afraid than I have been in my life. Not afraid of the economy, but afraid of the direction our country was going. I thought, Americans have forgotten what this country is all about. My neighbors and friends, even strangers, have proved to me that my lack of confidence in the greatness and wisdom of the American people has been flat wrong.

8. When the American people wake up, no smooth talking teleprompter reader can fool them! Barack Obama has served to wake up these great Americans!

Again, I want to say:"Thank you, Barack Obama! "After all, this is exactly the kind of hope and change we desperately needed!!

So, yeah, I heart Obama for..oh..about seven hundred and fifty more days.

This NOvember, we're coming for you..

I was -- by accident of birth -- a child of the sixties and, although my road led to service of my country and decidedly away from those who clamored for peace ~~ without realizing the price that must be paid for it. Nonetheless, I always appreciated the energy, spirit, fervor, and energy of those who chanted, protested, and sang for peace. (It is, after all, what even we who served our country seek.)

Their voices were impassioned; their desires pure -- for a time.

So now are the voices of us on the right who cry out for fairness, justice, and a square deal for the common man. Our voices rise in protest and -- some beautifully -- rise in song.

I have been smitten by the pure and sweet simplicity of Megan Fox's wonderful song that she posted on You Tube. I stumbled on this earlier and posted her video here. Megan's song haunts me; it is so reminiscent of those ballads of the sixties. It is rough-hewn and heart felt. It at once raises my spirit and makes me melancholy for what should be and is trod upon by an administration who is so consumed by power, they seek to stifle expression.

Herewith are the words and a reprise of the video.

You wanted a change
  You wanted to rearrange
This land of ours that we share
You said. "Yes, we can; he's our chosen man"

The One with the dream and the plan
We don't care, we don't know his grades or his transcripts
He's really too cool; went to an Ivy League school;
He'll get us out of Iraq..
Don't forget he's black, he's exactly what we all need.
The lame will walk, the oceans recede, your gas tank won't empty,
Your poor will not need, the media love him, they'll give him the push
And most importantly.. ..he ain't Bush.
We're sure it's the change we wanted.

It's one year later, you look like a jerk,
15 million folks out of work.
Lots of gas tanks are empty and homes are lost
And all you can talk about is farcical Frost.
But his poodle's real neat, his pecs are the best,
He's surfin' and swimmin', gettin' lots of rest..
While the rest of the country is stuck in a mess.
Was this the change you wanted?

Now Congress is flyin' to expensive locations
And the middle class is payin' for Nancy's vacations.
Writin' 1,000-page bills that no one can read
Includin' jail time for us if we refuse to concede.

They're cheatin' and bribin' and stealin' and lyin'
Not takin' our phone calls or readin' our writin'
Kicked us out of our townhalls, mad fun of our Polos.
Sent union thugs down to beat up the old folks.
They say that we're fakin'; we're all trouble makin'.
They tried to to bring us down; but don't forget..
..Scotty Brown.

So, we're marchin' and yellin'
and we ain't buyin' What they're sellin'.
We're two million strong, stretched like the sea,
  Free Americans makin' history.
Despite the lack of coverage on NBC..

So, if you're willing to hear what I say,
The only remedy is not far away.
Grab your pitchfork, light that torch.
Hang that sign in your front porch.

Harry, Nancy, Chucky Schumer, Spector,
  Boxer, RINOs too
This NOvember, we're comin' for you..

Ooooh, November, Ooooh, November, Ooooh, November..

..We're coming for you..

Don't call her Ma'am, call her ex-senator..

Stool Sample
Fred Barnes, writing in the Weekly Standard, gets it right:

Barbara Boxer under pressure is like a reckless driver in traffic. She’s out of control and extremely careless. “You know, like, I don’t want to go back to the days when thousands of people died every day because they had no insurance,” she declared in a debate in late September. Boxer, as best one could tell, was referring to the era before President Obama’s health care plan was enacted.

If true, at least 730,000 people were dying annually in America for lack of health insurance. (To do the math, it’s a minimum of 2,000 deaths every 24 hours multiplied by 365 days.) That’s a staggering number of people who presumably couldn’t get life-saving medical care because they were without an insurance policy to foot the bill.

But then he usually does.

The article is a must read for as much as it reveals the many, many warts of the incompetent, ineffective Boxer (fractious, and an economic "mental midget") as for some stunning insights into Carly's character. But, Fred's main theme is the train wreck that is Boxer:

..One, in the heat of a reelection campaign, Boxer will say just about anything so long as she can get away with it. And she usually can. Two, she is under extraordinary pressure from Fiorina, by far the strongest Republican candidate she’s ever faced. Three, Boxer is a tough, resourceful, and shrewd campaigner and not too haughty to correct a false statement when necessary to avert trouble.

Often that’s not necessary. Boxer, 69, makes so many dubious, untrue, hypocritical, or outlandish remarks in a single debate that most of them fly by without registering. Thank heaven for transcripts.

And she uncorks some show-stoppers: Boxer claims that Roe v. Wade "was a decision that brought us together" and "Sixty two percent of our people were going broke due to a health care crisis" to cite two that go unchecked and unquestioned by a fawning media and panel of questioners at the debates. She is not only incompetent as a senator, her attitude seems to pour sand into the gearbox of Senate machinations:

On immigration, “we have to stop this arguing,” she said. “We have to come together.” This is odd coming from a notoriously argumentative senator, one for whom the label “bitterly partisan” could have been invented. Boxer was removed last summer as lead senator on the cap and trade bill to clamp down on carbon emissions because she was too fractious to line up sufficient votes.

Fred Barnes -- arguably writing from the right side of the political spectrum but a fair and respected chronicler of the events inside the Beltway -- sums up Boxer's affinity for expanding veracity:
  • The stimulus is creating tens of thousands of jobs in California ~~ where employment went form 10.9% in february 2009 to 12.4% today. Another liberal wet-dream.
  • Ending the war in Afghanistan will be a trillion dollars. Great, Babs, just how do we do that?
  • Reducing the national debt can be helped by “collecting from people who are ripping off the government and other uncollected payments to the government".
  • And the tired old liberal saw, "stopping tax breaks to the millionaires and the billionaires .  .  . that’s almost another trillion."
Barnes' article gives Carly the best chance in 18 years to get this festering piece of liberal sludge -- oh, excuse me, that's Senator festering-piece of liberal sludge --  dislodged from her seat and sent back to her left-wing elitist friends in beautiful Marin County where she belongs:

But if any conservative can win California, it’s Fiorina. And Boxer’s penchant, when under pressure, for saying just about anything may help. “I love the military,” Boxer said in the TV debate. That’s a whopper, both preposterous and laughable. A few more of those may put Fiorina over the top.

I'd say the time is about right.

(Parting note on an inquiring mind: I had heard that Boxer used a stool behind her podium during the first debate with Fiorina. I am guessing that Lisa Benson's cartoon above is perhaps a tacit clue that that was true. Anyone out there confirm this?)

It was sad and sweet and I knew it complete..

..when I wore a a younger man's clothes.

Kevin Dujan over at HillBuzz discusses a phenomenon of new "folk songs" arising from the Tea Party/Middle America backlash to the Democrat obscenities being perpetrated on this country. His narrative says it all:

I was seriously not aware of this going on until Chrissy-the-Hyphenated posted an anti-Leftist song in an earlier thread, and it made me curious to checkout what else was out there on YouTube in this vein.

There is a lot of this stuff.

Just regular moms, in their homes, with their guitars, singing about the Resistance to what the Left is doing in this country.

A few weeks ago, I watched the movie “Taking Woodstock”, about what went into putting on the Woodstock music festival, where that generation protested against the Republicans and took up guitars to sing against the injustices they felt in Washington.

Does anyone else see this is now happening to Democrats and the Left?

There’s a clear spirit in the air unlike anything I have seen before…and people are starting to really tap into their creativity to give voice to the thoughts and feelings they are having…their fears…their frustration…their anguish.

This is powerful stuff.

I think it’s just the beginning, too.

If Democrats have lost folk music, they are possibly in more trouble than even I could have ever dreamed possible.
I agree with Kevin and think the song above (as well as the singer) to be sweet, simple, gentle and tart. It is pretty catchy and very singable.

I will post the lyrics one I have them transcribed and will be looking more and more into the genre.

Meanwhile, start humming and singing along!

UPDATE: Here's more..it's kinda good and kinda goes with a little bourbon and beer and good friends, doncha know.

I heart Bush..

George W. Bush -- our last real president -- spoke at a dinner in Mobile, Alabama night before last promoting his upcoming book Decision Points and raising $400,000 for the University of Mobile. He had some interesting observations about his two terms as president, the most piquant being:

“I loved being your president. But frankly, I’m having the time of my life not being your president,” he said. “I do not miss the limelight. I have zero desire to be in the press. I have zero desire to be on your TV screens. Eight years is enough of that.”

Somehow, that's a heartwarming sentiment from a man who endured such blistering hate and criticism from a maniacal left. I am sure it must cause them to seethe and roil but, as a man once said, the best revenge is living well.

Not only is he living well, he is making some pretty wry observations:

“In 1944, if somebody said that one day Japan and the United States will be working in concert to keep the peace, they’d have called you a hopeless nut,” he said. “But that person would not know what I have learned. That freedom is transformative. That an enemy can become an ally. And if the United States does not lose its nerve, and forget its principle of the universality of freedom, the same thing is going to happen in the Middle East. And some day, a generation of Americans is going to say, ‘thank God this generation did not lose faith in the transformative power of freedom.’”

..and something that the giggling idiot who currently resides in the White House would have not clue one understanding:

“I came to Washington with a set of values. I got those from my faith, my family and where I was raised,” he said. “And that became the cornerstone of my decision-making. You cannot lead a complex organization unless you have a set of principles that are inviolable.”

The more time that is put between those eight years and the more time I have to live through the absolute rampant incompetence and buffoonery on display in Washington since Bush's departure, the more I miss this good, quiet, decent man.

Yes, even for the warts and bumps we experienced during his second term, I believe he will go down in history as one of the better of our presidents -- except among those intellectuals who continually rate bumblers like Carter up near the top and relegate Reagan at the bottom despite economic and empirical evidence to the contrary.

Me? I kinda think the pictures below say it all about Bush versus The Child-Emperor metrosexual perpetual golfing vacationer:

For that matter, How about Bush, Reagan, and Captain Kick-Ass:

..'nuff said. God bless you, President Bush.

Waste no rant..

Reuters redacted the "Unexpected" adverb in their article on the new unemployment figures. This *really* shows how sensitive even Reuters is about the conservative blog observations that they would redact the "U" word. I commented on this (as if you care) to the effect that the times they are a-changin':

CONTINUING RANT: The tenor is changing; one only wonders what the knee-pad media will have to say about The Child Emperor when they discover he has rendered the Democrat party beaten and bloody in only two years?

Methinks there will be articles/series on how this is a failed presidency and how he has destroyed the chances of future black liberal candidates for years -- if not a generation -- to come.

Too freaking bad. May this remorselessly pathetic steaming puss-bag of camel offal be thrown on the scrapheap of history in 2012 along with his Dem cronies from this election.

..now if we could only run someone in SF to unseat Pelosi in 2012, that'd be great. Or, maybe it's just as well to have her relegated to ordinary house member and back into the economy airliner seat (from her palatial SOH jet) and watch her face explode from Botox injections the first time the cabin depressurizes in a downdraft.
