I kept having this eerie, nagging feeling every time I'd head over to Track-a-'Crat's site and see a post on England's PM, Gordon Brown. I kept wondering who Brown reminded me of and then it finally hit me: Rowan Atkinson, the delightful comedian and inventor of the zany Jacques Tati ripoff, Mr Bean.
..although, for the life of me, I wonder who is funnier, Mr Bean or Mr Brown.
(By the way, Mr Brown is the bottom photo.)
Wow! What a flub! I also like the riposte from the conservative speaker.
ReplyDeleteSunday evenings at 6:00 PM around this household was a moment of sublime pleasure for me what with watching PMQs and downing a Newcastle Brown or even a Guinness on the colder nights. I loved the raucousness of the session. It sort of made that timid "You lie!" by Joe Wilson seem like an eruction in a hurricane.
If I was not mistaken, I often heard a sharp, "Get stuffed!" rise above the din from the back benches.
My favorite, John Mortimer's Horace Rumpole, would endlessly needle Gutherie Featherstone for nodding off in chambers after an all-night sitting over a matter of "gas mains enabling bills" or some such.
Thank you, J-, for the sublime memories.
