Going nowhere..

I am in a rotten mood, folks! It comes when you are paid zippoid to run a serious search-and-rescue unit that takes federal dollars to engage in a regimen of training and then half of the staff behave like it's a garden club and/or poetry society while the other half raise trivial issues and bleat about low-priority annoyances.

To hell with it!

..thanks for allowing me a steam-blowing, tangential rant. So, on to more wonderfuller things! It seems as though Senator Diane Finkelstein's AWB is going to take a few laps around the bowl and descend into the maelstrom. And, if you look closely, you'll notice that these baby blues are not exactly welling up. Frankly, I hope the woman succumbs to a blistering case of terminal hemorrhoids.

That said, this lovely little piece of incoming shrapnel landed in my bunker and stuck in one of the sandbags:
Brilliant way to put it. But because of the common sense aspect of it, no one in Washington will pay attention.

A person steals guns, (WHICH IS AGAINST THE LAW), shoots and kills his own mother (WHICH IS AGAINST THE LAW), transports these guns loaded (WHICH IS AGAINST THE LAW), brings guns onto school property (WHICH IS AGAINST THE LAW), breaks into the school (WHICH IS AGAINST THE LAW), discharges the weapons within city limits (WHICH IS AGAINST THE LAW), murders 26 people (WHICH IS AGAINST THE LAW), and commits suicide (WHICH IS AGAINST THE LAW).

And there are people in this country that somehow think passing ANOTHER LAW Banning guns would protect us from someone like this. If you haven't noticed, people like this are not concerned about breaking laws - they only care about fulfilling their own twisted agenda.

The only people that a gun ban law would impact are the LAW ABIDING CITIZENS, which will only serve to cripple the ability to protect ourselves.

Going Woodster..

"..this space available.."
In the style of a good friend and blogger I admire greatly, the oft-imitated but never surpassed Woodsterman:

This asshole looked at my beer belly last night and sarcastically said, "Is that Corona or Bud?"

I said, "There's a tap underneath; taste it and find out."

----

I was talking to a girl in the bar last night. She said, "If you lost a few pounds, had a shave and got your hair cut, you'd look all right."

I told her, "If I did that, I'd be talking to your friends over there instead of you."

----

I was telling a girl in the pub about my ability to guess what day a woman was born just by feeling her boobs.

"Really" she said, "Go on then...try."

After about thirty seconds of fondling she began to lose patience and said.

"Come on, what day was I born"?

I said, “Yesterday."

----

I got caught taking a pee in the local swimming pool today.

The lifeguard shouted at me so loud, I nearly fell in.

----

I went to the pub last night and saw a fat chick dancing on a table.

I said, "Nice legs."

The girl giggled and said with a smile, "Do you really think so."

I said "Definitely! Most tables would have collapsed by now. "

----

..thanks to Tom the detective.

WIDE LOAD FLOTUS Packs in the groceries..

Some people raised their eyebrows when it was announced that the White House Inaugural Luncheon weighed in at 3,000 calories but it's easy to understand, after watching this video, that it was tailored to the nutritional needs of our beloved Fat-Assed FLOTUS. Here she is caught barely able to acknowledge a comment by the Speaker of the House and can only minimally drop her fork to offer a token clap during a speech:

..of course, this begs the obligatory question: what's for dessert?

Down under Down Under..

Here is a really, really, REALLY scary video about how the citizens of one country let a bunch of flaming pansy lawyers take their right to own guns away from them in return for the promise of safety. And we all know how letting the government take over an aspect of society works out, don't we?)

..the comments by some Australians is absolutely nauseating if you are a gun owner and aficionado. (Well, not the statements but the feeling one gets for those poor bastards who had to relinquish their firearms to the minions of the intrusive government.)

Here's some chilling facts from the Australian Bureau of Criminology citing crime statistics:

AUSTRALIA: MORE VIOLENT CRIME DESPITE GUN BAN
April 13, 2009

It is a common fantasy that gun bans make society safer. In 2002 -- five years after enacting its gun ban -- the Australian Bureau of Criminology acknowledged there is no correlation between gun control and the use of firearms in violent crime. In fact, the percent of murders committed with a firearm was the highest it had ever been in 2006 (16.3 percent), says the D.C. Examiner.

Even Australia's Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research acknowledges that the gun ban had no significant impact on the amount of gun-involved crime..

...

Moreover, Australia and the United States -- where no gun-ban exists -- both experienced similar decreases in murder rates:

Between 1995 and 2007, Australia saw a 31.9 percent decrease; without a gun ban, America's rate dropped 31.7 percent.

During the same time period, all other violent crime indices increased in Australia: assault rose 49.2 percent and robbery 6.2 percent.

Sexual assault -- Australia's equivalent term for rape -- increased 29.9 percent.

Overall, Australia's violent crime rate rose 42.2 percent.

At the same time, U.S. violent crime decreased 31.8 percent: rape dropped 19.2 percent; robbery decreased 33.2 percent; aggravated assault dropped 32.2 percent.

Australian women are now raped over three times as often as American women.

While this doesn't prove that more guns would impact crime rates, it does prove that gun control is a flawed policy. Furthermore, this highlights the most important point: gun banners promote failed policy regardless of the consequences to the people who must live with them, says the Examiner.

Source: Howard Nemerov, "Australia experiencing more violent crime despite gun ban," D.C. Examiner, April 8, 2009.

It's gonna be attempted here, you can damn bet!

Lend a helping hand..

Continuing in my less-than-full-of-the-milk-of-human-kindness mode (see previous post), here's something I was sent this by one of our brothers in the network. The background preamble:
The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) is a double edge sword. What goes around comes around. Please pass this on. She's the anti-gun Liberal Moron publisher that recently passed along every concealed carry gun owner and their address, from her New York County, in her newspaper, for ALL to see. That's what Liberals do.......soooooo let's return the favor!
Here's the meat of the post:

..so, I thought I'd do what little I could to accommodate this request. If you want, rip this puppy off and put it on your blog or send it to some of your friends.

Better yet, give this stupid beyotch a call in the middle of the night and ask her what a subscription to her goddam newspaper would be.

FINAL THOUGHT: She sure looks like 40 miles of bad road, don't she?

Hollywood's got the waterfront covered on this one, boss..

This came via Drudge on this last day of 2012. Apparently, there was one of those sob-sister, bleeding-heart sober-stares-at-the-camera-because-I-am-your-friendly-local-celebrity-for-gun-control commercials that was just begging to have these hypocrites' bloody, violent snips pasted between their pathetic bleating for the government to strip this country's citizenry of a constitutional right. Ligths, camera, action, roll film:

Aside from the chuckles these airheads cause with their hypocrisy, it raises a good point. Ask yourself which would be more incentive for an orange-haired loon or reclusive, autistic nut-job to -- er -- go ballistic, watching any of the movies shown here or watching an NRA gun safety training film?

UPDATE: Here is a follow-up sent by The X. O. again:
On Sunday December 17, 2012, 2 days after the CT shooting, a man went to a restaurant in San Antonio to kill his ex-girlfriend. After he shot her, most of the people in the restaurant fled next door to a theater. The gunman followed them and entered the theater so he could shoot more people. He started shooting and people in the theater started running and screaming. It’s like the Aurora, CO theater story plus a restaurant!

Now aren’t you wondering why this isn’t a lead story in the national media along with the school shooting?

There was an off duty county deputy at the theater. SHE pulled out her gun and shot the man 4 times before he had a chance to kill anyone. So since this story makes the point that the best thing to stop a bad person with a gun is a good person with a gun, the media is treating it like it never happened.

Only the local media covered it. The city is giving her a medal next week. Just thought you’d like to know.

..of course, you do not hear shit about this from the MSM who prefer to use the violent, unhandled events to promote their agenda.

Gummint finances explained..

More from my prolific X. O., "Sky" King:
Lesson #1
* U.S. Tax revenue: $2,170,000,000,000
* Fed budget: $3,820,000,000,000
* New debt: $1,650,000,000,000
* National debt: $14,271,000,000,000
* Recent budget cuts: $38,500,000,000

Now remove 8 zeros and pretend it's a household budget:

* Annual family income: $21,700
* Money the family spent: $38,200
* New debt on the credit card: $16,500
* Outstanding balance on the credit card: $142,710
* Total budget cuts so far: $38.50

Got It?
OK, then try this..

Lesson #2
Here's another way to look at the Debt Ceiling:
Let's say, You come home from work and find
there has been a sewer backup in your neighborhood..and your home has sewage all the way up to your ceilings.

What do you think you should do? Raise the ceilings, or remove the shit?

Historical context..

Here's a"Big Picture" episode on the right to keep and bear arms -- circa late 1950s. It addresses some interesting points about how unnecessary gun control is if only lawmakers enforced existing laws and people engaged in responsible gun safety and handling.

..some interesting and troubling comments to be found here. Particularly compelling is Craig Stevens (star of the Peter Gunn show in the late 50s) and his narrative calling out other Hollywood stars. To be sure, there are those in Hollywood who are against gun control and who appreciate and use guns. But too many are the mindless who follow the liberal mantra of banning  and confiscating.

"Only in America.."

 From "Sky" King:

TOP-10 "ONLY IN AMERICA" OBSERVATIONS -- BY A CANADIAN

(1) Only in America could the wealthier people - who pay 86% of all income taxes - be accused of not paying their "fair share" by people who don't pay any income taxes at all.

(2) Only in America could people claim that the government still discriminates against black Americans when they have a black President, a black Attorney General, and roughly 18% of the federal workforce is black while only 12% of the population is black

(3) Only in America could they have had the two people most responsible for our tax code, Timothy Geithner, the head of the Treasury Department and Charles Rangel who once ran the Ways and Means Committee, BOTH turn out to be tax cheats who are in favor of higher taxes.

(4) Only in America can they have terrorists kill people in the name of Allah and have the media primarily react by fretting that Muslims might be harmed by the backlash.

(5) Only in America would they make people who want to legally become American citizens wait for years in their home countries and pay tens of thousands of dollars for the privilege while we discuss letting anyone who sneaks into the country illegally just 'magically' become American citizens.

(6) Only in America could the people who believe in balancing the budget and sticking by the country's Constitution be thought of as "extremists."

(7) Only in America could you need to present a driver's license to cash a check or buy alcohol, but not to vote.

(8) Only in America could people demand the government investigate whether oil companies are gouging the public because the price of gas went up when the return on equity invested in a major U.S. oil company (Marathon Oil) is less than half of a company making tennis shoes (Nike).

(9) Only in America could the government collect more tax dollars from the people than any nation in recorded history, still spend a Trillion dollars more than it has per year - for total spending of $7-Million PER MINUTE, and complain that it doesn't have nearly enough money.

(10) Only in America could politicians talk about the greed of the rich at a $35,000.00 a plate campaign fund-raising event.

Oregon, Connecticut..

A disclaimer: I am torn by the anguish that must be felt by the parents and relatives and friends who lost their loved ones in Oregon and Connecticut. It's a terrible thing. And, yes, I DO know how this can be solved but you probably don't care because -- being a gun hater -- CCW probably shocks the living crap out of you. More later.

I wondered why the shooting in Oregon -- where the perp was using an AR-15 -- didn't earn more anti-gun screaming headlines. I mean, this is one of the assault weapons that are the favorite targets of the anti-gun crowd. Well, this was sent to me by my friend Lieutenant "Cappy" Robertson and it goes a long way to show why that incident go buried by the media:

The source of the video, The Easy Bake Gun Club blog, turns out to be an excellent source on debunking the media hysterics and provide regular features on why gun owners should not be intimidated by the liberal media and politicians screaming for their second-amendment rights to be abridged.

I'll leave it to you stew over this if you are anti-gun or do the research if you like. The blog is an excellent resource. I'll also leave you with two questions to ponder:

Why isn't Obama shedding tears around the clock for the poor unfortunate folks of his home town who suffer from criminal gun violence?

Why did the Obama administration allow school security funds lapse?

..you might want to also check out the murder statistics on Wikipedia. It shows 75% of the murders in Illinois are committed with a gun which is second in the nation and California at 72% is fifth in the nation. The leader with almost 80% is Louisiana. (Think New Orleans.)

Nuts!

Parable:
A man goes into the hospital for a vasectomy. Before the procedure a very attractive nurse comes in and takes his vitals, then tells him to take all of his clothes off.

When he is fully undressed she instructs him to lie down on the table. The man obeys. The nurse then takes all of her clothes off and climbs on top and has her way with him.

Upon the completion of the act the man catches his breath and asks what that was all about. The nurse informs the patient that studies have shown that before a vasectomy if the man has an ejaculation, he will be more relaxed and that the cord is easier for the surgeon to locate and sever, thereby making the surgery safer, more efficient and quicker.

The nurse then wheels the patient to the operating room. While they are going down the hall the patient looks through a window to the right and sees six men in a room masturbating. Curious, the man asks," What are they doing in there"?

The nurse responds, "They're preparing for vasectomies too, but you have Blue Cross, and they have Obama Care."

Social...Security?

From My X. O., 1LT Kevin "Sky" King:
SOCIAL SECURITY NOW CALLED 'FEDERAL BENEFIT PAYMENT'/ENTITLEMENT

Have you noticed, your Social Security check is now referred to as a "Federal Benefit Payment"?

I'll be part of the one percent to forward this.

The government is now referring to our Social Security checks as a "Federal Benefit Payment." This isn't a benefit - its earned income! Not only did we all contribute to Social Security but our employers did too.

It totaled 15% of our income before taxes. If you averaged $30K per year over your working life, that's close to $180,000 invested in Social Security.

If you calculate the future value of your monthly investment in social security ($375/month, including both your and your employer's contributions) at a meager 1% interest rate compounded monthly, after 40 years of working you'd have more than $1.3+ million dollars saved! This is your personal investment.

Upon retirement, if you took out only 3% per year, you'd receive $39,318 per year, or $3,277 per month.

That's almost three times more than today's average Social Security benefit of $1,230 per month, according to the Social Security Administration (Google it - it's a fact).

And your retirement fund would last more than 33 years (until you're 98 if you retire at age 65)! I can only imagine how much better most average-income people could live in retirement if our government had just invested our money in low-risk interest-earning accounts.

Instead, the folks in Washington pulled off a bigger Ponzi scheme than Bernie Madoff ever did. They took our money and used it elsewhere. They "forgot" that it was OUR money they were taking. They didn't have a referendum to ask us if we wanted to lend the money to them.

And they didn't pay interest on the debt they assumed. And recently, they've told us that the money won't support us for very much longer. But is it our fault they misused our investments?

And now, to add insult to injury, they're calling it a "benefit," as if we never worked to earn every penny of it. Just because they "borrowed" the money, doesn't mean that our investments were a charity! Let's take a stand.

We have earned our right to Social Security and Medicare. Demand that our legislators bring some sense into our government.

Find a way to keep Social Security and Medicare going, for the sake of that 92% of our population who need it.

Then call it what it is: Our Earned Retirement Income.

..to add to this screed's math are the following facts: You cannot collect Social Security at age 62 and still work. Well, you can, but for every $3 you earn, you lose $1 of your Social Security payment. When you finally reach the age where you can take your payment without this penalty and you still work, then you pay Federal taxes on 80% of your payments -- the same ones that you paid taxes on when they were withdrawn from your paycheck over the years. If you still work, Social Security is still deducted from your paycheck yet your payments only increase by the pittance of a COLA (usually 1-2%) the assholes in government deign to give you.

So, even with this little Ponzi Scheme, the assholes in D.C. still can't keep it solvent.

The money you had withdrawn from your paychecks along with the rest of us? In a lock box? Actually, it's in a file cabinet in a government office someplace in the form of IOUs from the feds to the Social Security Administration ever since the crooks in D.C. started raiding the fund and spending the loot.

The more you find out about that stuff, the more it turns your stomach.

Tom Clancy wrote two books: Debt of Honor and Executive Orders. The ending of the first book was about a mad Japanese commercial aircraft pilot driving his 747 into the Capitol building while a joint session of Congress was being held. The latter was all about the effort President Jack Ryan went to to get a new Congress elected to replace the one that got wiped out. He reveled in the fact that the replacement process was sending mostly common folk -- businessmen and workers instead of lawyers -- to Washington to do the people's business.

Good idea (he first one). Now if we could only find an angry JAL airplane driver..

More Bill Whittle..

I cannot bring myself to bag on Mitt Romney who I believe is about as honorable a candidate as we could have. However, he lost.

Since the election, I have made the decision (like many, I am sure) to dial out of politics and devote my energies to the survival and prospering of my family. Unless and until a contingent of U. S. citizens (do not want to use the work “political party”) emerges with an inspiring message enunciating the principles of our Constitution, it will continue to be droning, ineffectual blather and cliches.

Mr Whittle emerged on election night with just such a message. His chats on this subject are below -- the first a shorter variant redux of the much longer second talk he did to the Hancock Park Patriots in SoCal. Both are worth pouring a neat dram of whiskey and watching.

Two things in Mr Whittle’s tone and words strike me: (1) his second amendment remarks are eerily reminiscent of those made by Tom Clancy’s President Jack Ryan in Executive Orders and (2) overall, his response to the personal wealth question is refreshingly like Ronald Reagan’s self-assured cockiness.

Unless and until we re-tool to have an inspiring message similar to Mr Whittle’s, we will see a steady parade of entitlement-seeker candidates elected.

If you chafe at the possibility that Mr Whittle's rant may be ineffectual, remember that the Tea Party was essentially by a rant from the trading floor back in February 2009.

Suicide is kind of a drag..

From my old high school buddy, Detective TOm, in Georgia:

Don't find many Heroes like this one!

On January 9th, a group of Pekin, Illinois bikers were riding west on I-74 when they saw a girl about to jump off the Murray Baker Bridge. So they stopped.

George, their leader, a big burly man of 53, gets off his Harley, walks through a group of gawkers, past the State Trooper, and says,"What are you doing?" She says, "I'm going to commit suicide."

While he didn't want to appear "sensitive," he didn't want to miss a be-a-legend opportunity either so he asked, "Well, before you jump, why don't you give me a kiss?"

So, with no hesitation at all, she leaned back over the railing and did just that -- and it was a long, deep, lingering kiss followed immediately by another one.

After they finished, George gets approval from his biker-buddies, the onlookers, and even the State Trooper, and says, "Wow! That was the best kiss I have ever had Honey! That's a real talent you're wasting Sugar Shorts. You could be famous if you rode with me. Why are you committing suicide?"

"My parents don't like me dressing up like a girl."

It's still unclear whether she jumped or was pushed.

But let this day be our Battle of Agincourt, our Crispian’s day.
He that shall live this day, and see old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,
And say ‘To-morrow is Saint Crispian.’
Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars,
And say ‘These wounds I had on Crispian’s day.’
Old men forget; yet all shall be forgot,
But he’ll remember, with advantages,
What feats he did that day. Then shall our names,
Familiar in his mouth as household words-
Harry the King, Bedford and Exeter,
Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester-
Be in their flowing cups freshly rememb’red.
This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Crispin Crispian shall ne’er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remembered-
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne’er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition;
And gentlemen in England now-a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs’d they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap while any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin’s day.
Let’s get this done!

Tangential rant..

I posted the verbiage below over at Hot Air in response to a series of comments about poll, etc. It's my memories of 1980.
By the way, I gotta tangential rant on Dark Star's observation.

Raise your hand if you are an old codger like me and remember VOTING in 1980 to flush that drooling goober farmer! The rest of you gather 'round while the ol' War Planner regales you with his rapidly fading memories.

It was back in the Fall of ought-80 that we were saddled with that drooler but there warn't no interwebs or nothing. All we had was the Alphbets and a few polls. That bravo sierra that The Gummed Faerie was proliferating was absolute rubbish -- as was his goddam scatter chart showing reagan up mightily in the polls over Carter.

LET ME SAY THIS AGAIN SO WE'RE CLEAR ON THE SUBJECT!

All we proles knew was (1) we hated Carter and (2) we woulda voted for Beelzebub instead of that road pie. We were all groveling for our Victory Gin and thin stew and chocolate ration and we were at war with Eastaisa (at the time) and them bastages had held our embassy folks for 444 days. WE HAD NO FREAKING IDEA WHO WAS AHEAD OR BEHIND. WE JUST WANTED CARTER GONE!

I stepped into the polling booth at about 1715 PST on that first Tuesday and pulled the chain. I had no freaking idea it was going to be a landslide.

GOT THAT?

No freaking idea!

When I got home at 1730 PST, my father-in-law told me Carter capitulated! So, this over-the-weekend movement towards Ronald Reagan may have gone on, but it was a well-kept secret from the average Joe like myself.

So, here's what I think: what you're seeing with all of the last-minute polling shenanigans may be partly these idjits trying to preserve their little A-2 bomber-jacket-wearing fruitball POTUS but it's probably partly the sausage being made that you can now see because of the intertoobes or something.

What's that HG commenter say?

Clear ether!

..thanks for listening. We will now resume our regularly scheduled programming.

..just wanted to preserve this. I think Tuesday, our nightmare will come to an end. Hope I am correct.

Idiot wind..

Another sawdust-brained hawtie for The Sack-o-Crap® POTUS.

..rumor has it that Ms Perry is so-o-o-o-o dumb, that they had to put "Backward" on the back of the dress so she'd know how to wear it correctly.

Exit question: what's with the back-up dancers wearing knee pads (see lower left corner of pic above or hunt up the vid on You Tube or something)  -- or is that too impolite to ask?

Two more days until The Big Flush.
