More Sex, Lies, and Videotape..

Well, the lies anyway. No sex or videotape.

In another stunning air-burst of stupidity, The Gold Showered One declares in a talk today that the recovery act worked or is working. But, for one, Allahpundit over at Hot Air! perforates that pretty pink balloon:

Oh, by the way: Not only is it entirely untrue that “every economist who’s looked at it said that the recovery [act] did its job,” but not even every Keynesian who’s looked at said it did its job. Click the image to watch.

Well, the Obama Fail Blog also chimes in with another chink in the armor for the Benighted One.

Now, it seems that the "D" word is being trotted out. Actually, that would be (in honor of the former Mrs War Planner's bra size) the "DD" word:

..and, no, that does not refer to Obama and Biden.

Sex, Lies, and Videotape..

My good friend -- and fellow blogger -- who kicked me out of the nest and told me to fend (well..blog) formyself), CJ over at The Illustrated Conservative, is doing a series on The Sex Poodle.

..so what do I do to repay him? Why sure, I rip off one of his posts. But, I think that this might turn out to be one of those great sidebar events, this Gore story. Seems that the Portland police are re-opening the case and Byron York over at the Washington Examiner has been doing yeoman duty reporting the steamy details:

Gore said he was tired from travel and described in detail the massage he wanted. It included work on the adductor muscles, which are on the inside of the thighs. "I mentally noted that a request for adductor work is a bit unusual," the masseuse told police, because it can be "a precursor to inappropriate behavior by a male client."

Gore also requested work on his abdomen. When that began, "He became somewhat vocal with muffled moans, etc.," the masseuse recounted. Gore then "demand[ed] that I go lower." When she remained focused on a "safe, nonsexual" area, Gore grew "angry, becoming verbally sharp and loud."

The masseuse asked Gore what he wanted. "He grabbed my right hand, shoved it down under the sheet to his pubic hair area, my fingers brushing against his penis," she recalled, "and said to me, 'There!' in a very sharp, loud, angry-sounding tone." When she pulled back, Gore "angrily raged" and "bellowed" at her.

..so it seems it this sordid episode is getting to be a real bodice ripper. But, as I said to CJ, I can go with the the DNA results and the key witness, but sitting though a video of that tub-of-go enviro-fraud lying on a table, mountains of quivering flesh undulating in the dim hotel-room light, getting his getting his nether regions jollied by a purveyor of outcall is a little too intense for me.

Another revoltin' development..

One more thing -- this one somewhat longer, so get a sammich and a beer -- that is particularly troubling. It's an interesting segment and made more interesting in the fact that Megan Kelley (intelligent, articulate, and an attorney) does the interview and dissects the facts very adroitly.

Delicious moments..

I am nto a low-tech guy. I am a software developer (for over 40 years), an amateur radio operator (almost 40 years, continuously licensed), build and operate my own radios, design and build my own antennas, etc., etc.

..o.k., you get the idea.

But one aspect of this new technological age I simply haven't plugged into is this raging obsession that people have with cell phones. Rather than launch into a screed about etiquette, obnoxious, inconsiderate usage, and sop on, I thought I'd just let the clip below say it all for me. Sorry for the commercial, but CBS's gotta pay Dan Rather's pension and lawsuit settlement.

"Back in the saddle again..

..out where a friend is a friend.."

Old Sack-o-Crap's Rasmussen D. T. ratings plunged a couple of days ago, but he's back riding high once again ready to open his mouth and start flappin' them lips and again make a run at the 20s.

There's a theory that The Pantload's numbers get more favorable over the weekend because of all the blissed-out libs who stay home and try to recapture their memories of the 60s. After ingesting the pharmaceutical of choice, they mellow out when the Rasmussen rep calls.

"Obaba? Oh wow! Fer sure, dude! Like he's the coolest. Let me check with my main squeeze here a minnet."

"Hey, Moon Woman, is that hatchet-assed guy in D.C. cool or what?"

"Yeah, she's busy makin' some tie-dye jock straps for me, but she agrees. Peace out, bro."

..another "Separated at Birth"..

Scooter does the great news stories and includes his own artwork. I heartily recommend you give a visit. What with Woodsterman and Scooter, there's a couple of arrows in your quiver guaranteed to keep up the laugh index.

Anyway, he did a piece tangentially relating to Elana Kagan and whipped up one of his masterpieces:

..which instantly reminded me of:

..neither one, of course, is as pulchritudinous as:

..nor as ugly as:

..as Kelsey Grammer said in Down Periscope, "God! I love this job!"

..thank you, you golf-playing sack of sh!t!

NOvember 2010

UPDATE: Drudge ran with a link to this story about how The Sack-of-Crap-in-Chief is attending meetings and is -- apparently -- still ducking issues at 70 days out:

In the wake of the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, President Obama today summoned a bipartisan group of over 20 senators to the White House to push for energy and climate change legislation.

But one thing the President did not want to talk about at the meeting was the BP disaster, a Republican source told ABC News. And that, the source said, led to a pointed exchange with GOP senator Lamar Alexander from Tennessee.

“The priority should be fixing the oil spill,” Alexander told the President, according to the source. “That's what any meeting about energy should be about.”

But when Alexander tried to interject the BP leak into the meeting, the source said, the President told the senator, “That’s just your talking point.”

Retorted Alexander, “No, it’s my opinion.”

The exchange illustrates the difficulty in getting any comprehensive energy and climate change bill passed by the Senate this year. Various proposals are floating around the Hill, but to date no bill has managed to gain enough support to get it past the 60-vote threshold. Republicans are adamantly against cap and trade proposals or any measure that puts a “price on carbon.”

This guy is a piece of work. The 800-pound gorilla in the room is defecating in the punch bowl and this guy has his head buried in the sand, said The War Planner, murdering metaphors.

I am getting the feeling that maybe this guy is not as stupid as he acts; he's just tone-deaf and has a set agenda. I guess this is how they do it in Chicago. You know, like the SCOTUS handing the Chicago handgun ban a stunning defeat and having that tool of a mayor proclaim that he was still going to pursue another handgun ban.

New Arizona Flag..

Bill Preston strikes (sorry for the pun) again..

Oh, and as long as we're on the subject of Arizona, I think I have fallen in love. (But please do not tell Mrs War Planner!)

Just offhand, I'd say Ms Gorman is going for the NRA/pro-gun vote as well. Courtesy of Allahpundit over at Hot Air.

Separated at birth?

Bill Clinton and Dr Gene Scott?

..just sayin'

..thanks to Bill Preston out here in SoCal.

Senate Slumberland..

Offerred by a Hot Air! commenter and by another post over at Hot Air! itself, it sure looks like the Dems are having a tough time staying awake

..if you ask me, it looks like Franken, Byrd, and Reid are all slumbering.

POTUS Groin-Kick; Byrd KKKicks bucket and other matters..

Boy, you go away a few days and things really begin to look up! we're talking SCOTUS Chicago (Chicago!) handgun ban reversal, the G20 deficit reduction groin kick meted out to The Clueless One, and the Dems losing their quintessential hypocrite and past KKK Kleegle. By the way, did you know that, if you Google "kleagle", the very first link is Byrd's Wikipedia link.

The War Planner(and Califiornia?) sobering up..

Actually both are probably a misstatement, but here is a nice way to start the day, courtesy of Ed Morrissey over at Hot Air!. Seems like the bloom is (finally) off the rose even in San Francisco as this KPIX news flash reports:

These local news commentators are so-o-o-o-o totally clues living in their own little Bay Area echo chamber.

"..I think his numbers were so high initially that any drop.."

..yeah, lady, keep f**king that chicken.

June 23, 2010

Not just for breakfast anymore..

Thanks to my good work bud Russ and my U.K. neighbor, Tim, across the street, I got turned on to single-malt whiskey after years of choking down throat-searing blended Scotch whiskey. The dirty little secret is, no matter how cheap a single malt is, it seems to be smoother than whatever any vendor purveys at any bargain rate. Having cultivated a love for Irish and Gaelic music, I had dwelt in the fuzzy halcyon world of Bushmills and Jamesons, but they proved to be too harsh for my taste. I also once almost got into a cock-up in an IRA-sympathetic Irish bar in South San Francisco because I ordered Bushmills when the IRA prefer Jameson's.

Now that's pretty serious: having your throat slit because you chose the wrong whiskey.

It seems the Scots just seem to care about economy and making something smooth when they do it themselves. It's when they get together that they have troubles. Otherwise, how can you explain the liquid sandpaper quality of all but the most expensive blended Scotch whiskey?

Anyway, this is a huge digression -- if not a rambling blather. I guess what I was working up to is my absence from the controls for the next four days; I am headed to the hills to engage in Amateur Radio's annual excursion onto the world of emergency preparedness: Field Day. It's a 24-hour contest devoted to the proposition that we hams can set up and operate in the wilderness or under emergency conditions to support disasters and catastrophes -- pro bono -- with our equipment and expertise. We did this after Katrina, you know? That's right. When all of your grotty civilian cell towers and sat phones took the pipe, amateur radios operators -- stiffs like me on 20 an 40 meters -- were delivering vital traffic to the outside world. Believe it.

Here was my set-up last year; this year figures to be more of same.

So, yours truly and other who suffer from a similar dementia will be out in the wilds of the San Gabriel Mountains in back of Southern California attempting to make CW contacts and otherwise taking what the gods of the ether and the sunspot cycle hand to us.

..we hear six meters is going to be pretty good this year; a lot of double-hop Qs perhaps. Nonetheless, we will be there, pounding brass and howling at the moon.

The connection to Glennfiddich you ask? well, you don't think I am going to do this powered by Sapporo alone do you?

GRATUITOUS DIG: I have mentioned previously that I don't like the terminally self-referential Bill O'Reilly because he is a mealy-mouthed bookie, just getting his numbers by playing both sides against the middle. The guy is a nutless, poseur who could have pulled the trigger on Obama back in 2008 when he interviewed him. But like the Bag Lady, Peggy Noonan, and that senile, zwieback-gumming, baseball-following, old dementoid, George Will, he is another RINO MSM sell-out and Obama bum-osculator. These people will be consigned to the nether regions come the revolution, comrades.

Anyway, here is turd-bag O'Reilly -- in earlier years sporting a rug -- losing big time it because he could not decode the hieroglyphics his staff scribbled on the teleprompter. It's called schadenfreude folks: the delight in seeing your enemies in their agony.

.sure hope none of you out there post any of my meltdowns on You Tube.

Failure IS an option..

Remembering The Obama Presidency - one failure at a time.

Tim, over at LCR responded to an e-mail I sent wondering if we bloggers should mount an effort to catalog the massive and almost uncountable failures this regime is rolling up. Some administrations go days -- even weeks -- without a hitch in their gitalong. Hell, even Carter's star-crossed presidency saw yawning gaps between their
trips, stumbles, and falls.

An it's-come-to-this digression: I was in the midst of a single malt reverie last night thinking back in a mis-spent early middle age and reminiscing about the soon-to-be 80s under Ronald Reagan and I viddied a flashback to the Carter years. In that instant, I realized that if I had a choice between Carter and Obama, I would take Carter -- hostage crisis, screwing up the military, atrocious (but not disastrous) economic policies, misery index, cardigan-wearing-advocacy, 55-mph speed limits, flailing away at killer rabbits, disco (not Carter's fault), the works -- over the hatchet-assed, bumbling, lying, slimy, leftist, turd-sucking, golf-playing, ass-kicking, oil-spilling, skinny, metrosexual incompetent POTUS we now have.

Anyway, ten years from now, after that a**hole is but a distant memory, we will still be recovering from our hangovers and fighting off the few in the knee-pad media who will make it a project to try to roll the stone away from the tomb and resurrect this piece of crap as the first knee-grow POTUS, with all of the sentimental trappings, distortions, misrepresentations, and historical adjustments, etc.

Anyway, I thought we needed a contemporaneous record of the events that have (mis-)shaped these four years. LCR said it's a good idea but a great start has been made by The Obama Fail Blog and, after looking at it, I tend to agree.I will be linking to this and heartily recommend you stop over and visit. I don't see provisions for comments on the site but -- at second thought -- this is probably a good thing. The author probably wants to post the actual events/articles/viddies and other remnants of the latest screw-up uncluttered by the inane remarks we would be making.

On a similar note, Ed Morrissey over at Hot Air! runs his Obamateurism series: one per day of his own nomination and the Sunday edition which he puts up for a public vote (to the catcalls from commentators crying for an "all of the above" option). I regularly dump a remark into the maw about Ed making up a coffee table book from these; something I'd gladly pay for on 21 January 213.

..I just hope The Obama Fail blog can keep up; over the last few days, the regime's clank-ups have been coming two- to three-per-day. Maybe Ed's coffee-table Obamateurism book will be more like a set of Encyclopedia Britannicas by the time 2013 rolls around.

Exit Query: With apologies to Allahpundit, I wonder if, afgter he leaves office, the Pantload will have a shield made up saying "Office of the Ex-President"?

George Bush gives golf lesson to Obama..

(No commentary added; this just shrieks of "it's the right thing to do!")

Clearly, a fly mistaking the *ahem* the POSOTUS for a pile of manure..

Narcissism squared..

From Michelle Malkin's site and elsewhere throughout the internet:

O.K., so let me ask you, how many times have you seen "Washington Blvd", "Lincoln Ave", "Roosevelt St", or "Kennedy Dr" signs? But have you seen any "Pres Lincoln", "Pres Roosevelt", "Pres Kennedy" signs?

I thought not.

So what's up with this, Scooter? Are you so starved for the public's affection that you need to start getting things named for you already. Maybe you're planning to leave office in six months and just want to make sure that people remember that you were President?

Either way, the few fawning sycophants who will remain after your bony ass is long gone from D.C. will probably steal the sign -- over and over again -- until the folks down in Florida just say, "Screw it! Let's just rename it back to '1st Avenue'" or whatever it was before you insinuated yourself onto the scene.

..or, maybe it will get all loaded up with bullet holes and rock dings.

Skippy returns..

Just took a gander at the Rasmussen Daily Tracking (I told you I was obsessive) and it looks like Scooter has returned to the -15% region from the 20s:

Given that he was in that vicinity on June 13th, there might be the strong supposition that his excursion into the nether regions might be exclusively due to his Oval Orifice fiasco and when he shuts up and goes away, people are only moderately upset with the damage he and the Clown Troupe are doing to the country.

..maybe that's why he hides out on the golf links all the time.

ON THE SUBJECT OF POLLS: It seems that republicans are more fired up than ever over voting this Fall according to a recent Gallup poll:
But remember, don't let the "echo chamber" effect cause you to throttle back on your enthusiasm. We're in this for the long haul and that means not only through November but on into 2012.

Tremor in the force?

From the London Telegraph via Memeorandum

Rahm Emanuel expected to quit White House

Rahm Emanuel, the White House chief of staff, is expected to leave his job later this year after growing tired of the "idealism" of Barack Obama's inner circle.

Chink in the armor? Walls beginning to crumble? As Drudge would say..

UPDATE: Richard Fernandez over at Pajamas Media has an interesting article analyzing the prose of the Telegraph piece:

The key question to settle in choosing the right version is deciding who is ditching whom. Is Rahm Emmanuel firing a shot across the President’s bow or is the President telling Rahm to get with the program? The internal evidence suggests that Rahm Emmanuel is doing the warning because the far future date of his supposed departure would be unlikely if the message came from “Barack Obama” or “Barack Obama’s inner circle”. But there is enough ambiguity built into the message to allow for plausible deniability. Rahm is warning his boss as strongly as he possibly can without being overtly insubordinate.

The first comment to that PJM article -- by Black Bart -- raises interesting possibilities:

..AND THE WALLS COME A-TUMBLIN' DOWN: Clifton over at Another Black Conservative has a great post about Mort Zuckerman, one of Obama's chief pre-election bum-osculators, dumping a steaming load on Scooter in a "scathing critique" (emphasis added):

The end result is that a critical mass of influential people in world affairs who once held high hopes for the president have begun to wonder whether they misjudged the man. They are no longer dazzled by his rock star personality and there is a sense that there is something amateurish and even incompetent about how Obama is managing U.S. power. For example, Obama has asserted that America is not at war with the Muslim world. The problem is that parts of the Muslim world are at war with America and the West.

The post by Clifton is a must-visit and I'm dying to hear more.

..to my dad (LtCol W. H. Phinizy Sr, 1915-1992) who flew all of these and who passed on his love of the USAF to me. Thanks, dad. May God bless you and keep your skies clear and your visibility unlimited up there.

Woodsterman strikes again..

As always, our man in NorCal comes through. Naw, I am going to respect Odie's wishes and just tease it here, If you want to see the real deal, head on over to his sight and click away.

Besides, it give me YET ANOTHER chance to play with this great screen-capture software, SnagIt from TechSmith. I haven't even scratched the surface yet, but it is sure fun to use.

By the way, the link to Odie's site is the generic one so, if you are arriving here somewhat after 20 June 2010, you'll have to root around to find the viddy above. That said, he consistently amasses the most interesting and perverse pics, viddies, and commentary on the general foolishness of our species.

He's one of my stops for laugh of the day.

UPDATE: Odie also has a special father's day series entitled "Parenting Skills" here, here, and here..

..wow! Just wow!

Damned good start for Sharon..

It seems that LCR's and RightKlik's call for a mini-cash bomb for Sharon Angle is not a bad investment. Hell, it sure is going to work out better than the few hundred shares of BP I now have that The Chief A**hole is doing his best to savage. Anyway, according to Scott Rasmussen, Nevada Republicans are solidifying behind her and she is leading Harry Reid:

Sharron Angle, following her come-from-behind Republican Primary win Tuesday, has bounced to an 11-point lead over Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in Nevada’s closely-watched U.S. Senate race. A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in Nevada, taken Wednesday night, shows Angle earning 50% support while Reid picks up 39% of the vote. Five percent (5%) like some other candidate, and six percent (6%) are undecided.

Somewhere in the depth of copy or blizzard of polling information on this race, I heard that Reid has never polled over 42% and that's with 100% recognition. (That is, everyone in Nevada knows what an a**hole he is.)  I am given to understand that this is a sure sign of death for a politician. However, we cannot stop here; a week is an eternity in politics, etc. So it's your chance to drive a stake through this idiot's heart.

The cool thing is that she is a product of the Tea Party Movement and nothing the TingleMeister over at MSNBC can do or say will detract from her dumping Dingy Harry's ass into Lake Mead. The other cool thing is that she is getting support from out-of-state. (Read: you, me, LCR, and RightKlik, and the mob.) According to BEFORE IT'S NEWS:

Angle also is beginning to draw financial support as well. She reported on her webpage nearly a million dollars in contributions since the primary.

I received a nice thank you from RightKlik, but I must tell you that the paltry sum I gave to her campaign felt good and, with the help of Mrs War Planner's sammiches, it's going to keep on feeling good up to and including November 2nd when these clowns get flushed.

Livin' Large..Obama Big F[rea]king Deal style II

Did that last post sink in yet? Convinced The Clueless One has..well..no f[rea]king clue?

Maybe this'll help:

..courtesy of The Gateway Pundit.

Remember November!

GRATUITOUS INSENSITIVE, INAPPROPRIATE DIG AT OBAMA: O.J.,reached for comment at the Gray Bar Hotel in Nevada was quoted as saying, "Sh!t man! If I spent as much time on the links as that ugly-assed dude [referring to Obama], I'da found the perps who offed my bitch!"

..and, artwork courtesy of Scooter. (No, not that one, this one.)

Livin' Large..Obama Big F[rea]king Deal style..

Scooter, The Pantload, Skippy, Chimpy the Kenyan, or what ever your favorite sobriquet is for him, you gotta admit that this clown sure likes to live large. According to a Political Hotsheet article (hat tip to Drudge), Obama blew between $500,000 and a cool million yesterday on a ten minute speech:

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Trumpeting the 10,000th road project funded by his Recovery Act, President Obama borrowed two of three words made famous in March by Vice President Biden.

This is a "big....deal," said Mr. Obama, pausing for effect between the two words between which Biden had inserted an expletive in an overheard whisper three months ago.

"Today I return to Columbus to mark a milestone on the road to recovery," the president said. "That's worth a big round of applause."

The White House staged the event here in the political battleground of Ohio, where Democrats face tough congressional races this fall, including a fight to win the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by the retiring Republican George Voinovich.

Flanked by construction workers in helmets and yellow safety vests, Mr. Obama tried to score political points via the many jobs programs funded by the Recovery Act.

"More than 100,000 Ohioans are at work today as a result of these steps," he said.

Of course, there's always the GOP members of Congress ready to throw the mandatory bucket of cold water on Skippy's little tonsil parties:

House GOP Leader John Boehner, who represents Ohio's 8th Congressional District, said the administration's stimulus program has fallen short of its promises. He cited new numbers from the Ohio's Department of Job and Family Services that showed the state's unemployment rate "remained above 10 percent for the 14th consecutive month in May:"

And there's always the uncomfortable fact that, in scheduling this pathetic display of bravado, they can't seem to avoid stepping in it. It seems that construction workers (presumably not the paltry few in the picture) were told to take the day off -- without pay -- because of the president's visit. According to Michelle Malkin:

The president blows a trillion taxpayer dollars on a “stimulus” sham and yet can’t find a way to make sure a few construction workers still get a couple hundred dollars each to make themselves scarce during his “10,000th stimulus project” showpiece?

Boy, you can't make this stuff up, can you?

The White House yesterday launched a campaign called "Recovery Summer," in conjunction with thousands of new jobs programs funded by the Recovery Act being initiated. But Boehner portrays the campaign as bogus.

"This will be no 'recovery summer' for the more than 100,000 Ohioans who have lost their jobs since the 'stimulus' was enacted," he said in a written statement meant to undermine Mr. Obama's visit.

Left unasked in all this flap, of course, is how many gallons of crude seeped into the Gulf while The Pantload was flapping his lyin' lips in Ohio for ten minutes?

Recovery Summer, John? How about Recover November!

(Credit where credit department: thanks to King's Jester, me, my friend Dave at work, and poster TexEd over at PJM for their generosity in loaning me the use of Obama nicknames for this article.)

CLOSE-THE-LOOP UPDATE: ..oh, I almost forgot. Skippy finished off the trifecta with another -20 percent in the Rasmussen Daily Tracking.

Remember that this is a three-day moving average of the polling done by Rasmussen and today's numbers are the third day since the famous "I have a Scheme" speech by Obama from his Oval Orifice. So, yeah, you could say that people were largely unimpressed by his bloviation.

So many straight lines, so little time..

The dreaded vuvuzela claims its first victim: Woman bursts her windpipe 'by blowing too hard'

Insurance saleswoman Yvonne Mayer, 29, was unable to speak or eat for two days after ripping her windpipe when she blew the three foot horn during a street party in Cape Town.

The next day shocked doctors diagnosed her with a ruptured throat and ordered her to rest it completely to allow it to heal.

The bizarre injury is the first known vuvuzela-related accident since the World Cup kicked off last week.

Yvonne, from Cape Town, said: 'I had never blown a vuvuzela before but was given one at work and was going to watch the first South Africa match so thought I'd take it along.

'I was walking towards the Fan Park in Cape Town and blowing it as hard as I could when suddenly my throat started to hurt.

She should of..

Now there's a woman who..

Didn't she used to star in that movie, Deep..

..naw. I can't do it. I must preserve what little dignity is left on this site. I'll just leave it at her being only one in thousands of terminally stupid and annoying people in South Africa who are ruining it for football fans watching all over the world.

(But not for me, old son. I have got about 16 hours of pre-recorded ESPN Tractor Pulls and Monster Truck shows to catch up on.)

BP Bulletin..

This is a cheap, shameless plug for a site I stumbled across the other day. Entitled "Scooter's Report", it is ass-kickingly hilarious with some great pics -- almost rivaling those found over on Woodsterman's site.

Scooter's take on the news is -- well -- not exactly in the Paul Harvey school of journalism vein if you catch my drift:

Oh my..

..it seems that, with the 2nd day's data of the Rasmussen daily tracking poll factored in, The Pantload has dropped from a pair o' -20s to a -21 percent:

Remember that the daily tracking survey is done on a three-day moving average. It's probably safe to assume -- with this drop from a previous near-low-water mark -- that Obama did not do himself any good with that pathetic speech.

UPDATE: Of course, I missed the obvious take-away from today's numbers: Obama's approval numbers have hit an all-time low of 41 percent! And, as usual, Ed Morrissey over at Hot Air! hits it out of the park with his analysis:

Obama may not be in Bush-approval territory, but that’s the direction he’s heading. One thing is certain: Obama can’t get a bounce any more just from giving a speech.

Take the teleprompter away from The Pantload and he may just as well spend his time out on the links..

..oh, wait!

Pinball Wizard v. Pinhead Wizards..

I used to bag on him quite a bit and never really cared for his treacly/contrived music. But, of late, Elton John is being moved front and center in my own personal R'n'R hall of fame:

TEL AVIV, Israel (AP) - A concert by Elton John has given Israelis a boost after a string of cancellations by other world-famous artists.

The British rocker performed late Thursday in front of a screaming crowd of nearly 50,000 fans at a Tel Aviv stadium.

John, who wore blue-tinted sunglasses, told the audience those cancellations "ain't gonna stop me from playing here, baby."

Recent cancellations by the Pixies and Elvis Costello, who cited Israeli government policies, have added to Israel's growing sense of isolation.

John swiped at those artists, saying, "We do not cherry-pick our consciences," before hitting the opening chords of his 1972 hit "Crocodile Rock."

Here's one of my favorites by Sir Elton:

..a damned sight better than this turd:

Standing our ground..

Sometimes I weary of the sarcastic, cynical post I am compelled to put up here to attract visitors. I want desperately to go back to what's important. I received a heart-rending e-mail form Robin -- out of the blue -- and was compelled to write in response:

"I liken our effort to that of the patriots who are, for the moment, huddled in the front room cutting patches of linen and melting the pewterware into shot.

Soon the Captain's call will draw us forth into the early dawn, when we must trek down to the town square and stand our place on the common with our brethren -- musket, patch, shot, and power at our side -- awaiting the Redcoat's arrival.

Keep your power dry my brothers and sisters, and waste not this wonderful time to stand up for the principles that made our country strong."

God bless you all and God give you strength in the upcoming fight!

The Speech: First of three..

Rasmussen does it's daily tracking of presidential popularity as a three-day moving average. Yesterday, the polling did not reflect (or minimally reflected) the Oval Office fiasco delivered by The Pantload and the results stood at -20% (the difference between the strongly approve versus strongly disapprove). Today, presumably with the first day of the speech's influence factored in, the same index still remains at -20 percent. In other words, the results from today's poll had no effect whatsoever.

..it will be interesting to see what eventuates tomorrow and the next day as this remaining two days' data get rolled in. But, so far, this is not even a dead cat bounce; it's more like a dead cat crater.

Deja vu all over again..

For those of you who were in swaddling clothes prior to the ascent of Ronald Reagan, there's this piece done by Americans for Prosperity.

..believe me, I knew Jimmah Carter and this man Obama is no Jimmah Carter. Carter was cool, calm, collected, understood Nuclear energy, remained off golf courses during the hostage crisis, and could whack the crap out of a killer rabbit if attacked.

Not all of the news about the Gulf spill is bad..

Leftist hack hag NYT columnist and broken clock..II

Well, MoDo has done it again; now the Pantload will now have a choice of how to defecate, or load up his pants twice as fast, or become a TWO-POSOTUS..

..o.k., that's it for the scatological comments (for the moment).

But, like I said before, she's right at least twice a day. So, this is MoDo II, served up fresh and hot for your enjoyment:

President Obama’s bloodless quality about people and events, the emotional detachment that his aides said allowed him to see things more clearly, has instead obscured his vision. It has made him unable to understand things quickly on a visceral level and put him on the defensive in this spring of our discontent, failing to understand that Americans are upset that a series of greedy corporations have screwed over the little guy without enough fierce and immediate pushback from the president.

So she wants the diffident one who has spent the last two months bopping with brain-dead, library-less media stars, strutting on Gulf the beaches sucking down [yellow] snow cones, and sashaying around golf courses to show a little more emotion and involvement? Well, that gets kind curious here -- and for a brief instant I wish I had devoted some time to following MoDo -- because I am sure she was/is/will be again one of the leg-tinglers. That is, I remember listening to Imus during the waning years of the Clinton regime and hearing Dowd and some other clown with one of those depressing, middle-class Boston accents, bag on Clinton's flurry of misdeeds -- dress soiling, cohiba-izing interns, and the like -- thinking that the empire was about to crumble.

But, of course it never did and the Mercurial Ms Dowd always snapped back into full-on adulation mode.

That is what will happen here. Mark my words. In the mean time, we'll let time move on and poor little Maureen stay where she is -- until next time.

..keep thinking schadenfreude, I am.

In the wake of the "first speech by Obama from the Oval office evah..", there have been some interesting reactions and observations. I thought I'd set up this post as an all-day collection point for me to slam my half-witted thoughts into inasmuch as i have a busy schedule. But to set the tone, I should like to call your attention to King's Jester's observations, to set the tone for the daily additions I might come up with (emphasis mine):

"Fifty-seven days into the crisis, oil continues to gush from the broken wellhead, millions of gallons a day, and the fact that Obama has not done anything to stem the leak has raised serious doubts about his leadership and his administration’s response to what Obama has called the nation’s worst environmental disaster."

..also, a colorful rant and interesting observation can be found over at Amusing Bunni's site (the sweetest blogger in the world with the saltiest language; I love her!) -- she opines that, while Ogabe was hitting the American public up for money (a new tax) he was sending out solicitation letters to get the funds for a new hitch in D.C.:

UPDATE ... UPDATE Well Well, bammy is at it again! Just a few hours after the Hindenburg speech, OFA, Obummer's website, sent me this e-mail: I will paste below, but I'm not linking the POS POTUS! SHAMEFUL, Begging for money again. THAT was the reason for his "speech". That and pushing crap & Tax, or whatever they're calling it now.

Git on over there and check it out, it's to delicious for words. More when I get this pesky app I am writing debugged and tested. BCNU.

BREAK IN THE ACTION: ..a pause in the debugging effort to call your attention to a great idea over at Left Coast Rebel. He calls it "Ten Buck Fridays" and it's about, well, let him explain it:

"Conceived over at Conscientiously Conservative, the idea is to encourage like-minded conservatives to give $10 per week (until election day) to principled conservative candidates who need help."

It's a great idea and I think I will be doing that as a gesture of my devotion to the prospect of flushing these turds. Won't you consider the same?

..now back to that hammered pointer.

IT TRICKLES IN: Rasmussen's Daily Tracking (summary link over on the right there) reports that Obama has slipped to his lowest approval numbers since his inauguration. Here's as sample of Scott Rasmussen's pronouncement:

Overall, 42% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the president's performance. That’s the lowest level of approval yet recorded for this president. Fifty-seven percent (57%) now disapprove. Those are the lowest ratings yet recorded for this president. The president’s approval rating has held steady in the 46% - 47% range for six months and it remains to be seen whether this new low is merely statistical noise or the start of a lasting change.

My question is why is his approval still in the 40s and the "exit quesiton" as Allapundit is wont to say, is when will it hit the 30s?
